The early spring in March of 2016 was a beautiful end to winter. The grass was just coming out and the trees were beginning to put on leaf buds. What could be a better time to paint a young longhorn? Painting from a photograph is not my favorite way to paint but a longhorn will not pose for long and the late afternoon light also is in a hurry to leave.
Because their horns are so heavy the longhorn has a characteristic bent kneed stance that is particularly interesting.
No real rural Texan ever tires of seeing a spotted longhorn.
